First time reader...

I, like you, was a diehard Knicks fan. I remember the 1987-88 season when I was in 7th grade and the Knicks beat the Pacers for the #8 seed in the playoffs (Pitino's and Mark Jackson's first year with the Knicks). That season started a 12-year run of mostly great memories for me.

I got turned off the day I found out that the Big Fella was traded to Seattle for a bunch of garbage. Incidentally, you might want to add Glen Rice to your lowlights list, as he was an abject failure in one season in New York.

The real problem with the Knicks, and what I'd cite as the #1 worst problem (or moment), is the fact that Jim Dolan took over the club. Until he forced Dave Checketts out the door, everything was going well. The team was respectable and an annual contender.

Upon Dolan's assumption of power, Checketts was forced out, we got that dumbshit Tim Layden (nepotism pays) who concocted the ridiculous trade that took Glen Rice and turned him into Eisley/Anderson. He squandered drafts and trades (don't forget Antonio McDyess) and generally contributed nothing to the team.

Dolan has achieved nothing with the Knicks. As long as he's in control, the team has no future.

One thing I'd like to say about Eddy Curry -- I'm a huge Eli Manning hater. But I don't hate him because I perceive him to lack heart or passion. I think those are bullshit charges that people in the media say with nothing to back it up. Curry and Manning just aren't as talented as their peers. That's it. It might look like they're not trying but I assure you that they are.

Think about it logically for a second...you really think they enjoy getting ragged on by reporters and bloggers? They're trying, but it doesn't look like it because they might not have the same expressive nature that others might have. Not everyone can react the same way. It's foolish to think that they're not trying just because they're not demonstrably frustrated with their poor performances.

Anyway...I don't fundamentally disagree with you...Curry doesn't know how to defend or rebound and a lot of that goes back to energy or passion. But a lot of it is knowing how to do something. He just doesn't know how. As for Manning, he's a lost cause. He's never been coached the right way and it shows. But it's too late for him...
