Happy and A Healthy and A Hearty Welcome

This is probably my last post of 2008 so wanted to wish you all a healthy, happy and prosperous new year.

Something happened today that put me in a contemplative mood. My roommate in India (and business colleague) had a horrible allergic reaction to something he ate today while we were visiting the Lotus Temple and for awhile it was a hairy situation. As we sat in a cab in horrendous Delhi traffic, I literally watched his face swell up like Oscar De La Hoya in his last half dozen fights. We finally got back to the hotel and the doctor on call was able to prescribe some medicine and he’s doing much better now (it was a food allergy). But it threw quite a scare into all of us. At the end of the day (and the year), it just is another sign of how much we all need to cherish everything we have.

Finally, want to say what’s up to Mom and Dad! I haven’t been able to connect by phone with my parents (probably due to me sucking at time) but Mom sent a note that she is enjoying the blog posts! This is the first time they’ve admitted to reading this blog. They were so horrified by the coarse writing in my last travel blog (and my stubbornness when they questioned me about it) that they decided to turn a blind eye on YBIML. It’s great to have them join the L-Hoops tribe. If you know my parents you are probably jealous that they are not your parents. While we have different opinions on many, many things (and that’s because they taught me to think for myself), they’ve influenced my education, morals, values and well being more than anyone else in this world and I feel so spoiled to have such great folks in my corner in life. I’m hoping they enjoy this blog a bit more and looking forward to thinking of them as part of my audience when I write.

Tonight I’m celebrating New Year’s Param style and I’m sure the bash is going to be amazing. There is a cute Indian girl bartender who pours me generous portions of scotch and I’m pretty sure we’re in love.

Enjoy New Year’s. Be safe and say hey to your parents for you.

P.S. I’ll post new photos and videos in the next few days and get you caught up on the daily activities in my next post.
